Soulful Serenity Newsletter 38
As-salāmu ‘alaykum,
Dear Beautiful soul
Bismillah,
I’ve been sitting with the word presence a lot lately, not as a concept, but as a lived experience.
Presence is not something we switch on when life feels calm. More often, it’s something we lose quietly in the doing, the managing, the carrying. And then one day, we realise we’ve been moving through our days on autopilot, spiritually yearning but emotionally exhausted.
This is where many of us are right now. And it deserves gentleness, not judgement.
When Disconnection Isn’t Spiritual , It’s Nervous System Deep
For some, certain seasons of the year stir more than anticipation. They stir memory.
Not always conscious memory, but emotional memory, held in the body. And when that happens, the nervous system responds instinctively. You may notice restlessness, heaviness, withdrawal, or a subtle sense of pressure that you can’t quite explain.
This isn’t a lack of faith.
It isn’t a weakness.
And it isn’t something to push through.
It’s your system asking for safety before it can soften.
And this is often the missing piece when we speak about presence.
Why Presence Must Be Practised Not Performed
This is exactly why I created The Month of Presence.
Not as something to add to your plate, but as a space to help you return to yourself slowly, intentionally, and honestly. We begin one week before Ramadan and continue through the month, because presence doesn’t respond to urgency. It responds to consistency and care.
This journey is about learning how to settle the body, quiet the inner noise, and reconnect ,not from pressure, but from compassion.
If you’d like to know more about the Month of Presence, you’re welcome to message me directly, and I’ll share the details with you https://wa.me/27765715382
Growth Requires More Than Awareness
There’s a truth I’ve learned over the years, sometimes the hard way.
Insight alone doesn’t transform us.
Attendance alone doesn’t heal us.
Even understanding doesn’t always lead to change.
Workshops, therapy, coaching, and books are powerful but only when they are lived, practised, and integrated into daily life. These spaces give us language, tools, and direction, but we are the ones who bring them into motion.
Healing unfolds in the ordinary moments.
In repetition.
In choice.
In showing up again, even when it feels slow.
This is why I often say healing is simple, not because it’s easy, but because it asks us to return to the basics with sincerity and intention, and no expectation of a quick fix. If you are looking for a quick fix and an easy way out, then you are not looking for growth and healing, and that is not taking responsibility, that is looking for someone else to do the work for you, whilst you remain in your comfort zone. Growth requires discomfort.
Walking the Path With Support
This work doesn’t have to be done alone.
Through my website, you’ll find different ways to support your healing journey emotional healing sessions, workshops, masterclasses, and digital resources designed to meet you where you are.
My book, Journey to Growth, now also available as an e-book, was written from this very space , lived experience, reflection, and the ongoing process of becoming. Proceeds from the book also go towards supporting women in need because growth should never be isolating.
You’re welcome to explore everything here:
A Reflection to Sit With
Presence isn’t about doing more.
It’s about meeting yourself where you are, without resistance.
There's no need for perfection,
You don’t need to be “ready.”
You only need to be willing.
And from that place, with patience and trust, the path reveals itself.
With warmth and sincerity,
Nazia
