Assalaamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah,
Dear Beautiful soul
I had one of those mornings. You know the ones where things just don’t go the way you planned, and it feels like everything’s out of sync? Received notification about an unexpected water shutdown for repair, now it’s not the first time, and it won’t be the last, that’s just how life is sometimes here in South Africa, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t get to me.
And as someone holding down a household, a business, and trying to keep some kind of emotional regulation going, these moments can feel overwhelming. You’ve got a rhythm. Meals to make. Clothes to wash. People to take care of. And when something like water or electricity goes, it throws everything off. It can really get to you, especially when you’ve already got a lot on your plate emotionally and mentally.
But what I’m learning, and still trying to practice, is this idea of surrender.
Not the kind of surrender that feels like giving up, but the kind that reminds you:
"I am not in control of everything, and that’s okay."
That kind of surrender is actually powerful. Because it reminds you to come back to yourself and ask:
"What can I control in this moment?"
Maybe it’s just your breath. Maybe it’s the way you choose to respond. Maybe it’s the choice to say, “Okay, I can’t do everything I planned today but I’ll do what I can with grace.
That’s what I could control this morning , how I showed up emotionally. And that’s a victory, too.
It’s not easy to surrender to situations we didn’t choose. Especially when you’re someone who thrives on planning and stability. But what I’ve come to learn (and continue to learn) is that surrender is not about giving up, it’s about letting go of what we cannot control.
🌿 Reminder: Reaffirming La ilaha illallah
One of the most powerful practices that helps anchor me, especially in uncertain moments, is the mindful repetition of La ilaha illallah.
It’s not just dhikr, it’s a reprogramming of the heart and the mind. This is the foundation of our belief. That there is no power, no control, no comfort, no safety , except in Allah.
And what this repetition does , mentally, emotionally, spiritually is that it gently reminds us where to turn when things fall apart. There’s research that shows how deeply these kinds of affirmations rewire the brain over time. They calm the nervous system. They interrupt the anxiety loop. They shift us into presence.
So if you’re struggling with overwhelm, anxiety, attachment, or even self-worth, start here. Even 10–15 minutes a day in the early morning can change how you show up. It’s simple, but it’s deep.
We overcomplicate healing. But this is one of those sacred, accessible tools that’s always there for us.
🧠 Upgrade Your Mind Masterclass
When I created this, it was from a very real place. There was a time when I felt stuck emotionally and mentally. Like I was doing all the right things, but not moving forward. Maybe you know that feeling.
And what I realised is that your subconscious mind is running the show. It’s the patterns you don’t even realise you’re repeating. It’s the beliefs that were planted years ago that are still shaping your self-worth, your choices, your relationships, your money… everything.
This masterclass gives you the tools and awareness to understand what’s really happening underneath the surface and how to shift it. Because healing isn’t just about surface-level changes. It’s about gently rewiring from the inside out.
If you’re ready to go deeper and start moving forward with clarity and emotional healing, this is a beautiful place to begin.
🎓 You can access the masterclass here — available for instant download.
