🕊️ Honouring Youth Day: Healing for the Generations to Come
Today, we commemorate Youth Day in South Africa, a day that marks the Soweto Uprising of 1976, where brave young people rose up against injustice, demanding a better future. Their courage reshaped the course of history, and their legacy continues to call us into deeper responsibility.
As we honour their sacrifice, we’re also invited to reflect: What kind of legacy are we creating for the generations that come after us?
We often speak of change, but true change begins within. If we want our children, our youth, and those yet to come to live in a freer, more conscious world, then we must do the inner work:
🔸 To heal the trauma we’ve inherited
🔸 To let go of limiting beliefs whether cultural, generational, or personal
🔸 To unlearn biases and patterns that no longer serve us
This is the heart of emotional healing. It’s not just about feeling better,it’s about breaking cycles that have held us back for too long.
So today, on Youth Day, may we not only remember the past, but choose to become the kind of ancestors future generations will thank.
When Life Feels off…
Last week felt heavy for me.
I found myself spiraling into this feeling of disconnection like I wasn’t being fully authentic, like the noise of the world and my own internal overwhelm had taken over. It’s that feeling of “I just want to disappear.” And maybe you’ve felt that too.
Sometimes when that happens, it’s not the world around us that’s the issue it’s the disconnection within.
What helped me come back to myself was realizing that I hadn’t been giving time to my own non-negotiables, especially writing, which grounds and nourishes me. My energy was scattered in all directions but not inward. And the more we neglect those core parts of ourselves, the more misaligned we start to feel.
If you’ve been feeling off, scattered, tired, or “not yourself,” give yourself permission to come back home to you. Reflect. Reconnect. Reset. Especially now…
This is your reminder, too: we all have non-negotiables those practices that connect us back to ourselves. And if we neglect them, even for good reasons, we feel it.
Also, winter doesn’t help! With the shorter days, colder weather, and natural slowing down, it’s so important to acknowledge what’s hard for you, not judge it, just honour it. Healing is not about pretending you're fine. It's about being truthful with yourself and then nurturing what needs care.
Reflections from the First Half of the Year
Can you believe we’re already halfway through 2025? Whether you’ve felt stuck, stretched, or simply surviving, take a moment to pause and reflect.
You don’t have to do it all over again in the same way.
Use this moment as a soft checkpoint. Ask yourself:
🔹 What’s shifted in me this year?
🔹 Where have I shown up for myself?
🔹 What patterns am I ready to let go of?
And then choose differently, not all at once, just with intention.
