Dear Soulful One,
There’s a moment, right before we break, right before we spiral, that our body whispers: slow down.
But we rarely hear it.
Stress is so familiar, it feels like a personality trait. It sneaks into our shoulders, our breath, our thoughts. It convinces us that we don’t have time, that rest is unproductive, that peace is a reward for finishing everything on the list.
But what if peace is the beginning?
What if stillness is the way back to yourself?
🌿 Return to Yourself Morning Mindfulness Retreat
You are invited to a morning of stillness and self-return on:
Date: Saturday, 3rd May
Time: 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Location: Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens, Roodepoort, Johannesburg
Contribution: R350
Bring: Your picnic basket and your whole self
This half-day retreat is for anyone feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or simply longing for a soft space to breathe again. We’ll slow down, connect to our bodies, and remember what it means to be held by Allah, by the earth, by ourselves.
If the weather doesn’t allow us to gather on the 3rd, we’ll reschedule for another day. You won’t lose your spot.
I’ve kept this retreat intentionally simple and accessible because I know how much stillness and support is needed right now.
Retreats like this often come with a higher price tag , and there’s deep value in that. But my intention is to create a space that feels possible for more of us. A space where you can exhale, reconnect, and return to yourself without needing anything fancy.

✨ This Week’s Reflection: Stress is the Saboteur
Stress isn’t just about feeling overwhelmed. It’s what happens when your nervous system doesn’t feel safe , when your body thinks it has to fight or run or shut down in order to survive.
And we live in a world that praises this state. That normalizes urgency, burnout, and disconnect.
But chronic stress keeps you stuck. It shrinks your capacity to show up fully in your relationships, in your work, even in your spiritual life. It blocks you from hearing yourself. It makes everything feel harder than it actually is.
When you’re always in survival mode, the part of your brain that’s meant to help you feel calm and grounded , the prefrontal cortex ,shuts down. You stop thinking clearly. You forget who you are.
That’s why healing can’t just be mental.
It has to include the nervous system. The body. The heart. The soul.
That’s what emotional healing is: coming back into your body, creating safety inside of you, and learning how to live in a way that’s whole, not just surviving the day.
Mindfulness isn’t a trend. It’s a return.
To Allah. To your breath. To your body. To what’s real.
WIth love and gratitude
